BA Contemporary Visual Culture Programme Chair, Niamh Ann Kelly, recently participated in the  public seminar, Artist as Witness – Migrations at Dublin City Gallery: The Hugh Lane, organised as part of Port Perspectives Programme , May 2017. Image of DIT Library The Dublin School of Creative Arts is delighted to present a new  MA in  Visual and Critical Studies , which studies the theory and criticism of contemporary visual culture and the history of art and design. We offer the MA as part of the  Creative Arts Masters Platform, which offers a unique opportunity for focussed study in an interdisciplinary environment along with MA students in art and design studio practice. Student discussion at Project Arts Centre, with curator, Kate Strain The  MA Visual and Critical Studies  is for graduates of visual culture, art history, design history, and philosophy of art. It is designed to provide students with the opportunity for focused study in contemporary visual culture, supported by archival and textual research. Students  of Visual and Critical Studies benefit from an extensive library at DIT, access to local art and design archives, the possibility of collaboration with local and national arts institutions

Congratulations to the Final Year BA BAVACS (CVC) students who submitted their Degree Theses this week!  Here are some of them looking very happy... Some of the thesis topics this year included:  Pastiche in Cinema Artists' Resistance to Border Walls Anthropomorphism in Documentary  Korean Art and Ireland Androgyny: from Bowie to Gaga Transgression in Performance Art Gender Roles and Stereotypes in Harry Potter

Third year student Rebecca Quinn  has been working with the  National Print Museum  in preparation for the  Green Sleeves exhibition   which opened on May 4th and runs until October.  Rebecca helped with press and publicity in the lead up to the exhibition.  BA Contemporary Visual Culture students also helped out with the accompanying symposium, organised by Dublin School of Creative Arts research group Typography Ireland.
